Solid Silver Peterson Sherlock Holmes Series Tamper
This is a solid silver Sherlock Holmes bust tamper that was released in Europe by the Peterson distributor. From what I understand, these were not produced in Ireland, but they were approved by Peterson as part of the Sherlock Holmes series of pipes. About 2.75 inches long, 20 grams.

The Nurnberg brothers Friedrich and Heinrich Kapp, whose elegant Dublin tobacconist first opened for business in 1865 at Grafton Street, Dublin could scarcely have dreamt that they would participate in the birth of a legend.
In 1890, the famous Peterson system pipe introduced a revolution in pipe smoking which brought pleasure to smokers worldwide. This was followed in 1898 by the Peterson Lip mouthpiece, another innovation designed with a deep understanding of the pipeman's needs. The System pipe smokes cool and dry to the last puff and has won for it's creators many Gold Medal awards. This is a rare custom made Supreme graded and stamped Peterson slender Pot shape high grade with a hallmarked silver band and real amber P-lip mouthpiece. Includes an original black P-lip stem in addition the amber stem. Peterson shape N 608 medium size bowl with mixed straight grain, extra lightweight and thick walls. Includes an old style Peterson hinged box. Hallmark dated 1993
