Appraisal and certification service

Pipe collection appraisals are offered as a service through Pipe Collectors Club of America.

We offer everything from an Opinion letter as a brief basic introduction of value to complete documentation including photos, price history, condition and detailed information. Cost is based on the amount of documentation and research, along with the size of the collection.

Current market value, future value, item by item digital photography supplied on DVD, detailed condition, and insurance value are all reasons to have a complete appraisal on record.

Prices start at $49.95 for a basic opinion letter based on site unseen information.  Complete documentation including digital photographing the collection runs $10 to $20 per pipe with a $250 minimum charge, plus shipping and insurance. I'd also like to know if the purpose for your appraisal is for historical documentation,  insurance valuation or for selling the collection, as each has a different need in its appraisal process.

We will appraise briar and wood collections for the last 100 years. Extensive true Antique or Meerschaum collection appraisals are generally not offered, although mixed collection including a few true antiques are included in our appraisal service.

All appraisals are offered by RC Hamlin, with 35 years in the Pipes and Tobacco trade, a Pipe Collectors International Certified kapnismologist, CPCC Doctor of Pipes award holder and founder of Pipe Collectors Club of America. Additional opinion and research can and will be sourced by industry-hobby experts when needed to complete an accurate collection appraisal.
